March for Babies is the March of Dimes' premier fundraising event that benefits babies. For months, energized Grand Rapids families, companies and volunteers have been gearing up for the cause. On Saturday, April 24, their efforts will be pulled together for the final step in supporting the cause: the walk. Thousands of people are expected to participate in the three mile walk, including Grand Rapids' own 2010 Miss Black Michigan, Christina DeVos, March for Babies Ambassador Family, Ryan and April Hamm and March for Babies Honorary Chair, retired Director of Neonatology Dr. Leonard Radecki. Festivities will also include family friendly activities, music, refreshments and much more. Funds raised by March for Babies in Michigan help support prenatal wellness programs, research grants, neonatal intensive care unti (NICU) family support programs and advocacy efforts for stronger, healthier babies. The March for Babies is sponsored nationally by the march of Dimes number one corporate supporter Kmart, Farmers Insurance Group, CIGNA, Continental Airlines, Famous Footwear, FedEx, First Response, and Mission Pharmacal.
