Premiering acclaimed films like March of the Penguins, Man on Wire, and Born into Brothels, The Waterfront Film Festival is a great way for Michiganders to catch premiers of independent films. Entertainment professionals from West Michigan, to Los Angeles and New York created the Waterfront Film Festival to provide a "middle coast" venue for independent filmmakers eager to share their work with a sophisticated audience. Located in the unique, touristy little town of Saugatuck ("Michigan's Art Coast"), the festival has various directors, producers, actors, talent agents, and filmgoers coming together to view independent films from all over the country. The festival is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization seeking to bring established and quality films and filmmakers to the eagerly artistic side of Michigan.
Popular films shown at the festival in the past include Napoleon Dynamite, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, Open Water, Primer, and World's Greatest Dad. Notable guests in the past include The Evil Dead's Bruce Campbell, Kill Bill's Daryl Hannah, and even Matt Damon's agent. Come out to the 12th annual festival during the weekend of June 10 to witness great independent films, fun, and maybe a star or two.
