Specializing in all things weird, the B-52s have been writing about lobsters, Idaho, hot pants and shacks for more than three decades. Surprisingly, the band's biggest hit, "Love Shack," wasn't released until more than 10 years after The B-52s formed. The tune became drilled into our heads, whether it was on the radio, on MTV, on DJ sets at weddings, roller rinks, bowling alleys, proms, and countless other events. Soon after "Love Shack" was released, the members of The B-52s started to become known for their eccentricities as much as they were known for their songs - from Fred Schneider's lyrical delivery and glasses, to Kate Pierson's bright red hair. In 2008, the band released Funplex, its first original album in 16 years, and hit the road. You can see this wacky band when it stops by Muskegon this month.
