Chances are you've heard a Blues Traveler song before. Whether it's "The Mountains Win Again" in a Busch beer ad, or "Hook" on the radio, the wonderful whine of John Popper's harmonica has most likely made its way into your ear. Self-described as a "jam band," Blues Traveler incorporates pleasant melodies with blues guitar solos and wonderful, high-pitched harmonica solos. Now entering its 20th year as a band, Blues Traveler is still going strong and selling out shows across the country. Its breakthrough studio album, Four, has been certified platinum six times and, along with the aforementioned singles, includes Grammy-winning single "Run-Around." Its latest album, North Hollywood Shootout, was released in 2008 and is the band's ninth studio album. On its current tour, Blues Traveler has actually been encouraging fans to record its shows and share them with others (as long as no money is involved), as well as offering CDs of each night's performance (available for purchase up to 30 minutes prior to each show). If the music isn't reason enough to head to the Intersection on Aug. 5, at least go to see John Popper don his multi-pocketed harmonica jacket.
