Despite its name, Tokyo Police Club is not really from Japan — it's from Canada. Weird, eh? Well, it seems to be working out fine for Dave Monks, Graham Wright, Josh Hook, and Greg Alsop, Tokyo Police Club's main men. Two years ago, the band performed the last six weeks of Weezer's Troublemaker tour. This was a mere six months after Tokyo Police Club released its first album, Elephant Shell. Who's tellin' the Canuck jokes, now? Since then, the band's been touring, hanging out with some desperate housewives (it appeared on an episode of the ABC guilty pleasure drama), and recording its latest album, Champ, which was released this past June. Both albums personify indie rock, with minimalist drums, guitar, and a lead singer whose voice slightly resembles Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard's. So squeeze into your skinny jeans, lace up those seven-year-old Converse high tops, slap on your leather jacket, and head over to the Intersection on Sept. 22.
