A bright rising star in the world of classical music, 10-year-old international prodigy, pianist Marc Yu is joining the West Michigan Symphony's February Masterworks concert as a guest artist. Yu is already a veteran of Carnegie Hall and the Proms in London. He has shared his artist gift through numerous television appearances on such popular shows as "Oprah," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Ellen." Yu will take the stage alongside WMS spirited and delightful Piano Concerto No. 1. The concert will also feature Symphony No. 41 ("Jupiter") by another child prodigy --Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart -- and will open with Rossini's "Overture to Cinderella." Concertgoers are encouraged to forgo conventional attire and throw on a pair of blue jeans for the night. Rest assured, the musicians will be dressed the same. All WMS concerts take place in the historic Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Muskegon. Single tickets for the Masterworks concerts range from $14-$37. Single tickets for the Pops concerts range from $20-42. Discounts are available for seniors and groups. Single tickets may be purchased in person at the Frauenthal Box Office, at Star Ticket outlets, online at www.startickets.com or by calling 800.585.3737. Student tickets are always $5 in person at the Frauenthal Box Office. marc-yu.com
