Gary Schmidt has written 35 books, about half of them for children and young adults. His books span several genres: fantasy, historical realism, folktale.
Schmidt’s book "The Wednesday Wars" won a Newbery Honor, and his "Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy" won the Newbery Honor and a Printz Honor.
In each of his books, Schmidt addresses questions of change and growing into adulthood, and how the community around us contributes to that growth.
His latest novel "Trouble" examines these issues during a road trip, as Henry Smith and the boy he blames for his brother's death head toward confrontation in the mountains of Maine.
He teaches writing at Calvin College, anhttp://www.revuewm.com/administrator/index.phpd lives on a farm in Alto, Michigan. The cost is: FREE!!
