| This exhibition gathers works from a number of private collections and showcases artists that traveled or moved to the Saugatuck / Douglas area to be connected to the synergies of artistic life in these communities. Some were connected to professional artistic careers, others were not -- but the draw of the area begs the question of how Saugatuck and Douglas became the artist community it is today.
The paintings gathered for this exhibition vividly demonstrate the fascination of artistic life through the area's rich shoreline landscape, meandering rivers, and unique creative culture of its people.
Enjoy works by some of Saugatuck/Douglas' most celebrated artists including: Elizabeth Bandle, Pearl Greason, Albert Kreihbel, Thomas Tallmadge, Nat Steinberg, Frederick Fursman, Cora Bliss Taylor, and Edna Hotchkiss.
