Head down to St. Cecilia Music Center at 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 for An Evening with Max Brooks, the author of Zombie Survival Guide, World Way Z, and The ZSG: Recorded Attacks. Shimmy Shack Burlesque SaturdayThe Sazerac Lounge on Plainfield Avenue is hosting the one year anniversary of the Super Happy Funtime’s sister show, Shimmy Shack Burlesque, on Nov. 6 from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., following Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School from 6-9 p.m. The night will feature entertainment by Lady Jack, with special guests Satori Circus and The Shimmy Sirens; $5.

Inflatable Best Friend may seem like just another high school band, but its members don’t play like it! The band will be celebrating the release of its debut album, Don’t Berate Me, Don’t Deflate Me, at Comstock VFW Hall at 5 p.m. on Nov. 6; $7/$10.
Good Things Come in Fours Saturday
Grab those straw hats and the pinstriped barber’s pole because it’s time for the Rockin’ Barbershop Harmony Festival on Nov. 6. Hosted by the Muskegon Shoreline Barbershop Chorus and the Frauenthal Theater of the Arts, this event will feature over 250 vocal students paying homage to the barbershop quartet. Vocal seminars will run from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., followed by the melodic show at 7 p.m.; $16.
