MonaeA conflict with the Katy Perry tour has caused eclectic R&B singer Janelle Monae to cancel a Sept. 12 concert at Calvin College, according to the Grand Rapids school's student activities director, Ken Heffner. Tickets for the show, which was announced Friday, were to go on sale this morning. Heffner did not indicate if the concert would be rescheduled.

Monae will visit Grand Rapids on Sept. 11 as the opening act on Perry’s massive world tour in support of her album Teenage Dream. The North American leg of the tour features a rotating group of openers including Monae, Robyn, and Marina & the Diamonds. DJ Skeet Skeet performs with her on all dates.  Tickets are $45.40 and $55.60 (including fees)
