On April 5, you might think that you're having a Halloween flashback, but don't worry, you haven't lost your mind yet. The painted-faced, hard-rocking, rhyme-spitting duo Twiztid is coming to the Intersection.
Hailing from the dark shadows of East Detroit, band members Jamie "Madrox" Saniolo and Paul "Monoxide" Methric are underground sensations. Their unapologetic sound deals with the reality of the streets and speaks to their audiences in ways that relate to them.
"Darkness, I'm talking about a realistic kind of darkness — darkness that deals with relationships, heartache, not being understood — real life kinds of stuff. I'm not talking about magical leprechauns or little elves or anything — we take real emotions and transcend [them] into darkness," Monoxide said.
Twiztid's style and presentation might be a little intimidating to first-time viewers/listeners, but everything they do and say are all part of who they are — "Juggalos."

"A Juggalo is anybody that can just be their self — it's a person that has the confidence to be them — to be you. You don't change for anybody. It's just you, this is who you are," he said.
Twiztid's music and shows are unique in the fact that it's not just one specific genre of music. They incorporate high-energy rock music with gritty hip hop beats. Some refer to the style as "Horrocore" but Twiztid prefers the term "Ghetto Rock."
"It's probably one of the only rap shows where you'll find a mosh pit."
For nearly two decades, Twizdit has inspired passionate fans and created a tight-knit community of misfits. Its appearance and band theme all focus around a dark carnival mythology, which often gets misrepresented in the media.
"We paint up, because who the f*** wants to look at two normal guys. Concert wise, I charge people $20 a f*****g ticket, so to come here and see some douchebag sitting on a stool and playing guitar in a flannel — that's not fair to us. So we make everything theatrical — we make our shows to be entertaining to the fullest. Not just in the music but everything we do … and because we are extremely ugly."
Twiztid has always brought energy to its shows and this one will be no exception. They have been to The Intersection before and they are ready to make another lasting impression.
"Expect nothing. When you expect something, that's when you're disappointed. Just come free of mind, free of will and body, bring your $20 to get in the door, and we will take care of the rest."
