The Barn Theatre’s second event of the 2010 will be The Tubes rock band in concert! The Tubes will knock your rockin’ socks off! Come out for a night of theatricality, amazing vocals and mind-blowing sounds.
The Barn welcomes back Fee Waybill, lead singer, who has performed at the Barn Theatre starring as Dr. Frank’N’Furter in the blockbuster, cult, hit THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW 9 times! He returns with The Tubes for this benefit performance.
The Tubes are a San Francisco-based rock band, whose 1975 debut album included the hit single, "White Punks on Dope". During its first fifteen years or so, the band's live performances combined wild satires of media, consumerism, politics and sexuality. Showbiz excess was a common theme of the band's early work, with Waybill sometimes assuming the onstage persona of "Quay Lewd" (a pun on Quaalude), a drunk, drugged out, barely coherent lead singer, decked out with flashing glasses and impossibly tall platform shoes. With 12 albums to their credit, The Tubes soared up the music charts with “Talk To Ya Later” from The Completion Backward Principle” album in 1981; as well as their number one hit “She’s A Beauty” from Outside Inside in 1983. Don’t miss this legendary rock band!
Groovin’, local band, The Jim Cummings band will also perform on this special night.
Enjoy refreshments and a light snack in The Rehearsal Shed Lounge with friends before, during intermission and after the show.
