He received the Bachelor and Master's of Music degree from Indiana University under the tutelage of William Adam. His education continued with the completion of the DMA at the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri Kansas City. Sievers has enjoyed a very busy career, having played (extra) in the orchestras of Indianapolis, Charlotte, and Dayton, and full-time principal trumpet in the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra. His commercial playing resume is quite vast, having been on literally thousands of recording sessions, and having played lead trumpet for countless Broadway touring shows and for other headliners.
David Spencer enjoys an international reputation of excellence as soloist and chamber musician that crosses musical genres from orchestral to jazz to pop music performance. He has held the position of principal trumpet with the Seoul Philharmonic, Orquesta Sinfonica de Asturais (Spain), Manhattan Chamber Orchestra (New York), the Festival Virtuosi Orchestra (Brazil), and is the founding member and principal trumpet of The Memphis Brass Quintet. His recordings and collaborative work has been critically acclaimed and can be heard on numerous labels worldwide. Spencer is professor of trumpet at the University of Memphis School of Music.
