| Zhonghui Dai has held the position of principal trumpet with the National Symphony Orchestra of China for the past ten years. In 1997 he appeared as soloist with that orchestra and in 2004 he performed again as soloist sharing the stage with Jens Lindemann. In 2002, Dai joined the faculty of the Central Conservatory of Music (Beijing) as trumpet professor, head of brass, and founder and director of the central Conservatory Brass Ensemble. He is a nationally acclaimed performer and brass instructor giving masterclass in the United States, France, and all of the major conservatories in China. In 2006 he joined the faculty at the Young Siew Conservatory of Music. He serves as president of the China Trumpet guild, vice president of Chinese Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles and is a member of the International Trumpet Guild Board of Directors.
Matthias Kamps began trumpet lessons at the age of seven from his father and continued studies at the Flokwang-Hochschule in Essen (Germany) under the tutelage of Rudolf Haase. Further study took him to Chicago and Amsterdam. In 1996 Kamps received an award from the Herbert von Karajan trust fund, and became a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestral Academy. He has been a member of the orchestra of Berlin's Komische Oper since 1998. |
