ARTbreak: The Cool School: How LA Learned to Love Modern Art, part 1
Tuesday, July 20, 2010, 12:15pm - 01:00pm

This intriguing documentary focuses on Ferus Gallery, birthplace of the Los Angeles art scene.  Ferus proprietors Walter Hopps and Irving Blum groomed a loose band of idealistic beatniks into a coterie of competitive, often brilliant artists.  When Ferus brought to work by New Yorker's Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns and Roy Lichenstein to Los Angeles, nearby Pasadena mounted Pop Art's first museum exhibition.

ARTbreak is a free, weekly series of talks and programs about art, artists and exhibitions.  Bring your lunch--coffee and cookies provided.
